Call for Submissions: Catalogue of French Immersive Projects

An interactive walking experience blending extended reality (XR), dance, and artificial intelligence (AI). Rooted in the personal experience of grief and inspired by the true story of the youngest person ever cryogenically preserved, the immersive and interactive installation LILITH.AEON explores the future of humanity in the age of transhumanism and artificial intelligence.

Sea of Gold is an immersive and generative installation. The artwork explores the beauty and fluid essence of water through an artistic representation composed of a million particles. Beyond its aesthetic dimension, this work sheds light on the significance of water as a vital and precious resource, as well as its imminent depletion. Depicted here as gold, water symbolizes its invaluable worth and increasing scarcity.

Tidal Echoes is an immersive installation that blends visual abstraction with real field recordings, aiming to capture the essence of the seaside landscape. Inspired by Impressionist painters, Milkorva employs generative processes to create ever-evolving visuals reminiscent of ocean waves.

Wuthering Summits, a generative and immersive artwork, presents itself as an ode to the mountain, celebrating its fierce beauty and the rich texture of the landscapes it embodies. Drawing from a multitude of photographs of snow-covered alpine landscapes, an artificial intelligence gives birth to new horizons and shapes an alternative and imaginary reality.

Where the sun never sets is an immersive experience in which the eye becomes a tool for sound exploration. Thanks to an eye-tracking system, each viewer’s eye movements trigger fragments of testimony and spatialized soundscapes, revealing the invisible strata of an irradiated territory.

Rencontres (Encounters) is a sensory journey through space and time, linking a saturated, unlivable « modern » world with its possible calmer future, where time for dialogue and self-knowledge take precedence.

Paper Boat is an AR game/interactive experience that draws the passerby’s attention to the impact of global warming and the rising sea level in coastlines areas, using the elements of play, animation and scientific data.

All Unsaved Progress Will Be Lost is a melancholic journey through a ghost town made of concrete and fog, based on the testimony of a woman who refused to evacuate her hometown village after a terrible disaster. The explanation on what the story is based on is only revealed at the very end, thus creating tension throughout the experience. The unnamed threat remains inexplicably imminent, allowing the viewer to project their own personal fears.

“Qualia – You Matter to Me” is a film for immersive cinematic installation about our longing for connection, through consciousness, nature, symbolism, and hope. The gaze is a visual poem, gravitational Qualia: a raw feel, anxiety shaped into surrealism, mythology, a nightmare turned fantasy, spontaneous solidarity, feelings of solitude, suspension, an embrace, the beginning of a smile, a hand falling and rising again, time and the fates symbolizing the interconnectedness of the past, present, and future in the tapestry of life.

“Dream-e-scape” is an interactive projection art installation about lucid dreams. The piece is an immersive and interactive 360º installation about the mind and the search for awareness in which the public experiences a sensory voyage that captures the surreal nature of dreams, where the line is blurred between the physical and the digital world, between the real and the imaginary. “Dream-e-scape” is based on the state of sleep, an imaginary journey one can experience with the eyes wide open. The piece explores the concept of lucid dreaming, the sleep state in which we become aware we are dreaming and have the ability to control the dream and gain agency over our thoughts and desires. We are testing reality: Are we awake?

“Perennial Land – The Data Forest” is an immersive installation that combines the beauty of various forest environments with the importance of data-driven insights into a human’s impact on nature. Stepping into a space transformed into a multi-climate forest, tech and tools about resources and equity are seamlessly integrated into the environment like trees. We want to push aside the modern habit of thinking of nature–culture divide, decolonize technology and highlight the ways landscape contributes to social, political and psychic ideas of space. The vulnerability of the environment is directly related to that of certain communities. Nature does not need us. We need nature.

On July 29th, 1890, in Auvers-sur-Oise, the painter Vincent van Gogh died by suicide. Marguerite, the daughter of his physician, Dr. Gachet, was one of his last models. The experience starts in the home of Dr. Gachet where Marguerite reminisces about the artist. She takes the viewer on a journey through his palette of colours and famous works: in Provence, where he nearly lost himself in his quest for the “high yellow note”; the reds and greens of the cafés along the Rhône River; the vivid colours of the night sky; and in the fields of Northern France, where he explored the pure colours of exhilaration and passion.

Exo-Cortex 3.0 is an invitation to feel free, guided by a voice that plunges us into a dreamlike and hypnotic introspection. This immersive dome experience offers a dreamlike journey to the spectators through a poetic and bewitching composition of the space. Each stage transforms the venue into complex digital formations that become new 360° moving objects of contemplation.

It questions our perception of reality and our relationship to the digital environment through light, sound and space with a captivating fusion of art and technology. It tries to propose an introspection on the evolution of human identity in the digital age through a form of reflection on the extension of our consciousness with digital tool. By asking questions about the way in which our lives are augmented or modified by technologies, the experience suggests that we reflect on the boundaries between the biological self and the digital self.

NEXT transports you to a future where humanity has irreversibly transformed its environment. It offers a nightmarish and predictive vision of what awaits us if we don’t profoundly change our lifestyles. The idea is to present a silent witness to this transformation, based on material learned by artificial intelligence, a captivating exploration of our destiny through devastated landscapes that anchor these generated scenes in an almost recognizable near-future.

Immersive plays with the Op art concept and minimalism content to produce illusions and illimited perspective. Projection plays with delay and echo in a rythmic progression of abstract patterns displayed from simple geometric forms. The minimalism design puts the spectator in an unstable situation by disturbing his sensation. It wants to surprise the viewer to get out of his custom point-of-view and question the perceptions of our daily reality and his relation with the environment. The ascending movement and the use of stroboscopic images gives a new sensation of temporality and the sensation to be fully immersed. A surrounded sound system accentuates the sensations of an infinite space and the soundtrack is inspired by electronic melody derived from pure sinus and digital noises recreating a real electro-acoustic noisist orchestra.

EMOTION allows you to discover the poetic world of a little girl with an overflowing imagination. Enter her laboratory garden, populated by strange, surprising and funny animals: new species that are half-animal, half-plant. As you explore visions of the world ranging from the infinitely small to the infinitely large, you’ll be accompanying this little girl who has just lost her mum and helping her to reconnect with her emotions. Interact with the immersive set and four 3D puppets. Throughout the experience, you’ll be guided on your journey by small emotional particles that will create beautiful visual and audio alchemies around you. Take part in live sessions, during which actors and performers equipped with motion capture suits will accompany you throughout the experience.

L’ECUME DES JOURS is a 3D augmented live show that won the SACD Multi-screen Writing Prize, the Baia Mare Special Jury Prize and the Europe Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Prize.

Colin is an affluent young man who loves jazz and love and hates violence and work. Full of love, he lives in a world he imagines, in which his strong emotions overturn the laws of physics. A thousand omens accumulate and lead Colin to Chloé. He finds true love. But Chloé falls ill. Soon, the windows refuse to let in any light, Colin’s radiant universe shrinks, and his bedroom becomes a swampy, oozing sphere…

Entrez dans la danse is a unique experience inspired by a sadly famous event: the Dancing Plague epidemic of 1518. Within an immersive structure, the public is invited to discover the story of Enneline, the first woman to be swept away by this pandemic. Combining theater and dance, this sensory experience invites us to follow the momentum of the bodies, bearing witness to the distress of a population faced with rigid authorities. Borrowing from live performance and cinema, the experience becomes a veritable playground for spectators, who are invited to join in the dance.

On the dome surrounding the audience, the story is fragmented, for the sake of modernity. The device offers another way of looking at movement, of gradually becoming part of it. Motion-capture cameras and a set of interactive nuances on the floor (colors and shapes) enable the audience to literally “become one” with the story. The narrative will lead the spectators to become involved, gradually inviting them to enter “physically” into the dance. One of the main challenges of this experience is to blend the spectators’ flesh bodies with the filmed bodies of the dancers, and the virtual bodies captured in motion capture.

Ito Meikyu is a virtual reality experience that develops around references from Japanese art history and literature (The Fukinuki Yatai, The Tale of Genji, The Pillow Book) and unfolds as a large sensory fresco with strong emotional potential. A heterogeneous set of drawn, animated and sound scenes are taken from digital material; they recreate a kind of subjective world (inner and outer) in the form of a labyrinth composed of fractal architectures, inhabited by plants, objects, animals, men, women, motifs and calligraphy. The virtual wandering space allows us to access different scenes based on the randomness of our choices: a kind of hide-and-seek game with the universe at the centre of which we are the omniscient spectator.

The Eye and I is a 6DoF interactive virtual reality (VR) visual and musical journey in which the viewer discovers a collection of 12 large-scale virtual worlds, each dealing with a key moment in history and humanity’s schizophrenic need for surveillance and control. Visitors enter each world at their own pace, until they inevitably return to their starting point: a panoptic prison cell where they are under constant surveillance.

URBAN OASIS is a reconquest of a building in the dynamic heart of a major city by a luxuriant nature and a booming collection of relaxing immersive art pieces. The public is invited to join a journey inside the reinvented building. Half guided by performers, half free to wander by themselves, they take a walk around the venue, enjoy the stunning nature scenery of an indoor garden, have a drink or snack in the middle of the immersive universe, and participate in various immersive experiences.

The whole journey is designed for a positive effect on each person. To relax, open your mind, reinvent yourself and your place among this universe. Using the incredible tools of virtual and augmented reality, immersive projections and sound, our team of performers leave each guest refreshed, renewed, with new ideas in their mind and hopefully a new perspective on the world, a possibility of a more harmonious future.

In partnership with Métropole Nice Côté d’Azur, the Old Casino project is part of a cultural initiative, offering a nomad experience designed specifically for Villa Massena.

This experience plunges you into the history of this hall of entertainment, once a favorite destination for gamblers, society soirees and theatrical extravaganzas. Discover the construction of this glass palace, with its unique architecture reflecting the extravagance of the 19th century. Observe its various representations by the painters of the time and capture the aura of this edifice, illuminated at night in the Nice sky.

The development of this experience involved several innovations in our creative processes. It includes the 3D printing of a model designed for optimal overlay with HoloLens. Based on historical elements, this small-scale reconstitution of the Casino using noble materials enables us to anchor our augmented experience on a tangible object in the most optimal way possible.

What’s more, the experience incorporates a VR component that drops you off on the Promenade des Anglais, in front of the sumptuous and immense Casino in full color. In short, this new nomadic presentation mode offer the chance to bring a vanished monument back to life.

It all stems from an approach developed by conductor Laurence Equilbey. She imagines a visual representation of the sonata form to help grasp the global coherence, structure, and principles of its construction. In this way, the musical architecture, visible in the score, takes on a new reality, discernible and easily accessible by all, without violating the composer’s intention. The architecture becomes sculpture. The user is drawn into an interactive musical promenade, a sensory experience.

This Is My Heart is the contemporary tale of an extraordinary love story, that of a child’s reconciliation with his body. A sensory and narrative creation that highlights the distorted representation we have of our own bodies.

Conceived as a collective site-specific work, This Is My Heart is an installation designed for cultural and artistic centers and immersive spaces. An immersive tale in which the public, wrapped in a connected garment and embellished with luminous embroidery, is carried away in a poetic experience, both oral and visual. This Is My Heart offers a sensory odyssey in which the audience sees the connected garment light up in sync with the text of the story. A ballet of lights takes shape under the impulse of the story, a story conceived as a dialogue between the narrator and his own body. This Is My Heart is an immersive work of the intimate, whole and organic: whether it’s the visual projections, the soundscape or the choreography of light that moves through the audience’s bodies, everything seems to breathe and react to the story. This immersive tale lasts 35′ and is accessible to all audiences.

A long time ago, the First Star defeated Darkness. But today, the Shadows have come back and stars have disappeared from the skies once again. As a newborn star, you have to rescue your sisters, and liberate them from darkness. With their help, you’ll reveal your incredible potential and learn the secrets of light and shadows Together as One.

The Castaways is a one-hour collective performance for 100 participants embarking on a journey to encounter the characters within them. It uses an immersive audio setup to synchronize participants’ actions and video projection to magnify them.

From lead artist, Pyaré, SPACED OUT is an underwater VR experience using the revolutionary VR waterproof headset, DiVR by Ballast Technologies. It invites visitors to float on water while breathing with a snorkel, giving an illusion of being immersed onto the lunar surface. SPACED OUT transports the visitors from earth to the moon, from water to space and from the first to the third person leaving body behind, to reach the moon and then its hollow center. The French company NiGHT designed MeRCURY, a digital diving mask that makes you float on the water, while allowing you to breathe through a snorkel. This sensory technology lets you explore the depths of the oceans and simulates the weightlessness of space.

The Palais Garnier is home to a secret, magical place that only ballet dancers can reach. A prima ballerina of the Opera de Paris uses her voice to guide participants back to the place that has inspired ballet steps for generations, and shares a backstage view of the dancers’ imaginary work.

With a sound composition combining electronic creation and the original music of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, this experience is a gentle invitation to movement, a moment of contemplation and dance experimentation.

On a hot and dry day, to survive you have no choice but to take refuge in the nearby forest. As you approach an oak tree, the ground becomes transparent under your feet and the bark disappears to give way to the choreography of the oak’s vital flows. It wants to communicate with you …

The female form, once displayed without agency, breaks free from convention as Duchampiana chooses to move upward, skyward. There is no finish line: the journey towards a free and authentic self means pushing forever onwards. An exercise in resilience and an encounter with truths buried deep within our physical bodies.

500 meters underground, in long tunnels, radioactive material is stored. On the surface, a blue forest seems to possess a soul. What secrets does this environment hold? Between past and future, memories and fantasies, the viewer gradually pieces together the history of this burial site. Blue Archives is a reflection on the imprint humanity leaves behind, in the thickness of time.

ENERGĒIA is an immersive documentary experience where you can take a stroll without beginning or end. Freed from gravity, the visitor is invited to explore ghostly buildings, built from 3D scans within French nuclear power plants. As they go forward into these composite spaces, their direct gaze can trigger hidden interviews with several experts — engineers, physicists and researchers offering a variety of viewpoints about the future of energy at ecological, economic and geopolitical levels.

Dream Builders: The Cenotaph for Newton explores the Cenotaph for Isaac Newton, an utopian monument imagined in 1784 by Etienne-Louis Boullée as a grandiose and gigantic tribute to the famous scientist and to the philosophy of the Enlightenment.

Alone in Greenland, electronic music producer Molécule captures the sounds of Arctic to compose his next piece. Inspired by this adventure, the -22.7°C VR experience takes you on an initiatory journey, at the very origin of musical creation.

EMPEROR is an interactive and narrative experience in virtual reality, which invites the user to travel inside the brain of a father, suffering from aphasia.

It is the story of a man who’s lost his ability to speak, and of the daughter trying to communicate with him. It is the story of a woman, who wasn’t given the chance to know the man behind her father, now obscured by this illness.

As she tries to piece together what remains of his language, she discovers that his relationship to words is connected to his memories. The memories of an entire lifetime… Step by step, clue after clue, we will dive alongside her into the inner world of this man, in an attempt to decipher the story he can no longer tell us.

In a monochrome aesthetic, close to traditional animation, this personal story is told as a journey with surreal overtones, offering to explore aphasia as a distant country. EMPEROR is a poetic experience of the loss of one’s faculties, of the passing of time, and of the bonds which, through it all, remain.

Collective Body encourages us to reconnect to ourselves and each other through movement. The collective VR experience invites us to discover our movement identity- our signature ways of moving through the world- as a way to return to our embodied selves.

Where overuse of technology has been shown to lead to dissociation and depersonalization, Collective Body uses virtual reality to create a new, deeper awareness of our whole self.

Interactive movement improvisation, guided by narration and interactive music, invites us to move freely and without judgment. Meanwhile, our specific movement styles generate an expressionistic, visual representation of our own movement identity. A personalized visual & musical avatar incarnates this essence by evolving throughout the experience until we finally witness ourselves anew. Participants pass through five stages of a storm in the New Mexico desert, symbolizing five formative stages in human life. Five key moments in which our personal stories are written, stories that inhabit and animate each of our movements. Throughout the experience, our movements are analyzed and interpreted into a unique visual representation: our motion avatar. Each of our movements shapes, enriches and transforms our avatar, the unique virtual double that embodies our movement identity and invites us to perceive ourselves differently.

Using virtual reality, Collective Body invites us into movement and sensation to connect to our deeper self. At the same time, it illustrates a new perspective of who we are, beyond appearances, filters or untenable standards. The experience asks: how does movement shape who we are? How does our expressive body speak louder than our superficial self?

Like an “ethno-detective”, follow the footsteps of Kubo, a Korean writer in his urban flanerie in Seoul in 1934, when Korea was under Japanese occupation. See the city through the press caricatures mocking the shortcomings of a part of Korean society emerging from the poverty and archaisms of the past, and discovering with reckless the modernity and prosperity coming with the occupation. Then be confronted with the resistance of another part of the population, through the story of the first Korean athlete to win an Olympic medal in Berlin in 1936, and see how this resistance was erased by censorship.

« Grotte » is an inner exploration, a journey that I thought up and created during the first confinement following the appearance of Covid 19. It proposes to enter the meanders of my brain, a labyrinth made up of my thoughts, research since this period from which I still find it difficult today to get out. Like a hermit crab, I sometimes feel stuck in my shell of mental isolation. The idea of this project is therefore to explore these different galleries of the brain, which could be likened to elements that could be found in a cave, whether underground passages, galleries, chasms, stalagmites, groundwater etc. This journey illustrates the traces of the upheavals that forced isolation can cause and shows a pattern of thought that can be described as unusual, with a desire to go elsewhere, to escape this condition. There are speleologists who shut themselves up there on purpose in caves, this experience aims to allow them to get out.

The story of an unlikely friendship between Chief Aliman of the Bunun clan (Taiwan’s Aborigines) and the Japanese anthropologist Ushinosuke Mori during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. The experience will lead the spectators on the path of these two extraordinary characters, showing the respect they’ve been sharing for the Jade Mountain and the way it forged their bonds.

Hayoun Kwon revisits the ‘Taoist Immortals’ painting, an 18th-century Korean masterpiece by Gim Hong-do exhibited at Samsung Leeum Museum. Invited on a journey where our walking is the master of time, we follow the path of the immortal gods and cross paths with other eternal walkers: refugees on the road to exodus, or stars in the firmament. Through the parallelism of the representations, visitors travel through these different scenes, moving in time forward and backward alongside these eternal walkers.

Girlfriend Experience is an immersive and interactive video-documentary installation about the service of the same name provided by sex-workers.

In a film shot using volumetric capture, Ugo Arsac talks to sex workers and their clients about the practice. A trend exacerbated by the use of social networks, which leads people to look for more than just sex: affection, tenderness and, above all, authenticity.

Girlfriend Experience takes the form of an immersive multi-screen installation, using smartphones as the medium for the audiovisual creation. By dialling a number on their own smartphone, visitors have access to the audio content of the documentary, the testimonies of the protagonists bringing the images of the film to life.

The smartphone, which at first acts as the link between the customer and sex-workers via sex-on-demand applications, becomes here the point of entry between the audience and the work, shaking up our position as spectators and questioning our social and intimate relationships in an ultra-connected age.

4 projections show intense colored backgrounds, 3 greens and 1 pink, with regularly changing tons, even sometimes permutating, on which a quasi-rectangular centered shape oscillates. In this one, everything moves quietly : disks, ovals or figure-eights grow, shrink, sway, merge or separate, while colors vary progressively, with similarities, gaps or contrasts from one panel to the next. Dualities dialogue : flatness and depth, light and darkness, sharpness and blur, rondness and cutting… Sometimes a vertical stripe crosses the plane – the inexorable passage of time ? Sometimes, rapid swirls shake the surface, and fragment the halos. Through these transitory phenomena, an inner musicality emerges. Surprised, fascinated but attentive, the viewer refines their gaze, and, in this suspended time, tastes ‘pure’ vision.

Underneath, invisible but fondamental, a programme is activated. A sum of numbers, loops, conditions and multiples functions subtly arranged, where chance remains infimitesimal, generating and controlling constantly renewed variations of these moving tableaux.

ACHILLES is an immersive epic that plunges visitors into the imaginary world of the myth of Achilles and the Trojan War. An ambitious artistic project based on a rigorous scientific study :

– a sharp, contemporary re-reading that goes back to the sources and draws on the most recent studies to offer a new dusted-off version of the traditions that goes straight to the heart of the matter

– a spectacular presentation of ancient iconography, never before presented in this way, based on in-depth research in the world’s greatest museums and thanks to unprecedented computer graphics and digital restoration work

– the splendour of an immersive creation and the emotion of a powerful poetic narrative, which embraces the mystery and timeless depth of the myth and brings it to life, to question the link with our imagination and our culture.

We can propose a turnkey solution for a big projection or a site specific scenography for a museum exhibition.

Bear My Soul is inspired by the animism of indigenous people in the Great North, their myths, and their shamanic practice of dreaming, connecting them to the spirits of plants, animals, and elements that coexist in our world. This immersive experience transports the participants to a spiritual dimension, where each of them embodies a creature with plant and animal characteristics. By using their gaze, touch, and the resonance of their voice, participants establish a connection with other beings.

Immersed in the world of the spirits of the ancestresses, you are appointed, with two other guides, to accompany Nana Lou on her last journey. On the day her granddaughter Clementine gives birth in a maternity hospital in Tokyo, Nana Lou has a stroke at home in France. She finds herself at the hospital, stranded between life and death… By your luminous presence at her side, you help her revisit her memories and pass away in peace. Nana Lou is a VR interactive animated short film inviting the viewer to play a spirit accompanying a grandmother during her last moments.

Welcome to ASTRA, your ticket to the stars. This Mixed Reality Experience transports you from Earth to the deepest corners of the cosmos as you embark on a quest to uncover the key ingredients of life in the Universe. Step foot on planets and their dark moons in a search for future worlds and far away beings.

With GAUDI, The Atelier of the Divine, visitors are transported into the mind of the famous architect. The exceptional reconstruction of his workshop, which disappeared in 1926, creates a narrative journey into the unique psyche of the Catalan master.

By slipping into the costume of a disciple and guided by the voice of Gaudi himself, visitors discover the architect’s extraordinary personality, his revolutionary working method and his teeming universe. With one goal in mind: to understand Gaudi and, when the time comes, to take over the work to which he devoted his life: the Sagrada Familia.

This interactive VR tale follows the quiet lives of Oto and Skippy on their tiny planet, disrupted by Exo, a cosmonaut whose spaceship crashes there. Oto enjoys his simple life by chilling in a hammock and eating pink fruits from his unique tree. Helped by the user, Oto tries to grab a fruit but accidentally causes a shockwave that attracts Exo’s ship which crashes on the planet. Exo emerges, plants a flag, and starts exploring the planet without any regard for Oto. Their cohabitation proves difficult, with communication barriers and Exo’s territorial behavior. Exo splits the planet and builds a wall, claiming the tree. Oto ingeniously finds ways to get fruit from the tree, irritating Exo. Their conflicts escalate until a meteor shower hits the planet, leading to unforeseen consequences for both characters. The story explores themes of cohabitation, conflict, and eventual reconciliation as Oto and Exo navigate their new shared existence.

At the core of nothingness, on the horizon of infinite space and unfathomable time, an imposing geometrical form wanders. An immense tetrahedron that will soon dislocate to scatter and deliver a mysterious message through its changed shape.

In 1964, Arthur C. Clarke, the co-writer of Stanley Kubrick’s on 2001: A Space Odyssey, reveals his vision of the future. By revisiting the signal transmitted by the first cathodic images, this VR experimental film literally plunges us into the sound and visual matrix at the heart of this achive. I Saw the Future allows spectators to submerge themselves in a three-dimensional space echoing the futurist predictions of a visionary and humanist scholar.

Six life stories: Désirée, Lohan, Jonas, Fiona, Meredith and Amir, all affected by a strong emotional sensitivity. And Eve the dancer, omniscient catalyst who immerses the audience in these six stories. Through her choreography, Eve identifies and interprets these six states of consciousness in front of the audience: addiction, obsession, jealousy, anxiety, depression and paranoia. She then invites six volunteers from the audience to join her on stage. She equips them with virtual reality headsets with which they discover the story of one of these characters, each sharing the struggle with their disorder through their diary: the discovery of their difference; their powerlessness; then the encounter with a person who helps them to find their balance. In the room, Eve plays with the six participants in virtual reality, creating a twirling, liberating dance. In her performance, she interprets the six stories, also projected on a video screen, for the audience in the room.

#ALPHALOOP invites a group of spectators to experience the imaginary practice of techno-shamanism. This practice is based on the premise that there is no dual opposition between Nature and Technology, no structural difference between computers and other “natural” manifestations of reality. To take them on this augmented-reality adventure, they will be accompanied by two guides, HIM and the META, a pair of antagonistic characters in the midst of a power struggle to lead the audience to the other side of the mirror.

The show is freely inspired by Timothy Leary’s theories on cybernetic shamanism and is based on a research trip on myths and cultures of northern Quebec. This trip reinforced the dramatic writing of a work that takes a critical and unique look at the technologies of Extended Reality (XR), the ideology of innovation, and spirituality.

Outre-Ronde / Beyond-Round proposes an interactive experience with a counter-intuitive, even deceptive logic, where interaction with the moving image (as opposed to playful or spectacular pieces) functions on slowness and the use of the peripheral field with the aim of awakening or educating vision. Here, the image has the power to dodge the viewer’s gaze, depending on how quickly it rotates to be seen, when it appears, playfully, at the edge of the viewer’s field of vision. In a way, looking too fast makes the object of desire disappear or ‘destroy’ it. Slowing down, staying still, conversely allows the (tamed?) image to come to us, leading to a non-verbal dialogue, potentially very colorful, between human and non-human.

The image, though poor, embryonic, abstract, a kind of colorless luminous blob, by the richness of its behavior, embodied, never mechanical, draws the spectator into a round of approach, of restrained seduction, of interacting and reciprocal temporalities. Participants realize that the way they move engages them in a constant dialogue with their environment, whatever it may be. In this laboratory of perception, rich in experiences that can be transposed to human relationships, interaction broadens awareness and becomes initiatory.

Similar to a synesthesic deambulation through moving frames, in turns minimalistic, figurative, surrealistic and playful, “Sensitive Abstraction” reveals and interrogates the influence of important mathematical concepts in music and arts to show their poetic charm, their tangible manifestations and their beautiful modernity.

“Le Palais” is a documentary in virtual reality about the ambition of one man, an industrialist Jean-Baptiste André Godin, who revolutionized housing and living together. Through the years and spaces of the Familistère, Le Palais takes you on a journey through the history of this architectural and social utopia.

It all takes place in Guise, between the town and the Familistère , the site of this exploration. The experience should raise participants’ awareness of the importance of a better distribution of the wealth produced by work, and the urgency of everyone’s commitment to a better future.

Out Of Your Mind is an immersive psychedelic experience – an unrestricted trip through the spaces of our conscious minds that addresses humankind’s intense bond with the living. By investigating our relationship with the world and by exposing the brutal, authoritarian and dystopian city to the more desirable potential outlooks offered by technological progress, the artists map out a new, more optimistic pathway.

In an ancient forest of eternal nature and under a star-strewn sky, twelve blind people – six women and six men – wait for the return of their guide, a priest. They attempt to locate themselves in both time and space. Through words they fill their silence and waiting. They discover one another and come to the realisation that they have always been strangers. Foreshadowed by nature’s muffled calls, a crisis breaks out when they discover the dead priest lying among them. On stage, the twelve spectators delve into a poetic and raw virtual world. An immersive collective VR experience highlighting the play’s timeless message; we are all blind seeking some form of guidance. By adapting Maurice Maeterlinck’s well-known play, INVIVO pursues its vision of a hybrid theatre at the cross paths of theatre arts, digital arts, and virtual reality.

‘Dreamcatcher’ is an immersive installation that investigates the relationship between writing and memory through the prism of dreams, seeking to expose their content to the awakened experience. Rebuilt with AI in 4 dimensions from brain and semantic data collected during active sleep sessions of the artist and their awakened recollections, oniric landscapes emerge to reveal this unknown of our lives and its role in human creative capacities. The work is exhibited as an interactive and generative installation within the open volume of a cube. Two walls and a floor are joined to form a ‘corner-screen’ that delineates itself from the surrounding space and blurs its internal limits. The inner surfaces serve as a continuous projection screen where the generated landscapes of the dreams are displayed and synchronised with a ‘shield-mask’ integrating a VR headset that visitors can wear and enter the installation to re-enact the pittoresque exploration of the dreams.

“Noire” is an immersive experience based on a biographical essay by Tania de Montaigne, which premiered at the Centre Pompidou on April 2023, and won the award for Best Immersive Experience at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.

The experience is designed for groups of ten participants. Visitors are equipped with Hololens 2 devices, and a bone conduction headset. They enter a 200-square-meter set that soon becomes haunted by the ghosts of 1950s Alabama.

In Montgomery, Alabama, on a 2:30 p.m. bus on March 2, 1955, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white passenger. Despite threats, she remained seated. After being jailed, she decided to sue the city and plead not guilty. No one had ever dared to do that before. And yet, her name would be forgotten.

‘The Siren’ is a digital exploration that questions the traditional conventions of video games. The work probes the meaning we assign to actions within a game, the motivations behind our playful engagements, and aims to eventually introduce an art exhibition public to the medium.

This inclusive approach is designed to be accessible to everyone, including newcomers, while also providing an additional level of understanding for those already acquainted with video games. As a result, the piece features accessible gameplay and incorporates a so-called ‘cinematic’ dimension, thus offering a rich visual experience for those who prefer to watch.

In ‘The Siren’, players embody a heroine wearing a shimmering armor who initially wanders aimlessly along a beach at dusk. Once in control, players quickly engage in actions under the watchful eye of an omniscient narrator. This narrator prompts players to undertake a seemingly arbitrary task—or side quest—of collecting bioluminescent seashells scattered across the sand, before being allowed to move on to the main quest: the rescue of a damsel in distress. The player’s interaction, especially through multiple-choice dialogues with the narrator, influences the unfolding of the story and can trigger multiple distinct endings, depending on players interpretation and conscious choices.

“Le Bal de Paris de Blanca Li” is an immersive live performance enhanced by 35 minutes in virtual reality. You are invited by Blanca Li to the grandest ball in Paris, where music and dance blend seamlessly with virtual reality to create an innovative, festive, and artistic spectacle. This experience transcends the boundary between spectators and dancers, allowing you to observe, interact, and dance through different universes. The performance unfolds a love story in three acts, featuring two main dancers and involves all senses and the body, culminating in a real-life ball. No prior knowledge of dance or VR is required to enjoy this poetic and fantastical journey.

Myselves is an immersive and interactive choreographic performance which stages a dialog between a dancer and her multiple selves, embodied in an autonomous and unpredictable visual and aural creature, which emanates from her psyche as interpreted by optical and body sensors.

Toiles animées permet de redécouvrir l’œuvre de ces peintres de manière ludique, sensible et spectaculaire. Universelle, l’exposition s’adresse autant au public culturel, intéressé par la peinture ou les arts numériques, qu’au grand public. Lors de sa première diffusion au Tripostal à Lille, dans le cadre du Video Mapping Festival, elle a accueilli 7 500 spectateurs sur 5 jours d’ouverture.
Cette exposition est disponible pour une circulation à l’international et peut être installée facilement dans un lieu où il est possible de faire le noir et disposant de murs blancs.

Elle peut être composée des 5 pièces ou d’une partie seulement. Une production spécifique sur l’univers d’un·e peintre en particulier peut être ajoutée.

Animalis machina invite les visiteurs à pénétrer au cœur de l’usine de la Cococh Industry. Fer de lance de la production innovante et connectée, cet endroit centralise les chaînes de fabrication et d’exploitation du Cococh. Le Cococh est l’archétype d’une nouvelle forme d’animal entièrement artificiel dont l’existence est vouée à l’exploitation de ses propres ressources par lui-même. Cococh incubateur de tranches de jambon, Cococh pondeur d’œufs, Cococh doudou destiné à la douceur du foyer ou Cococh sécuritaire pour pouvoir mieux se protéger.

L’installation met en scène une « usine monde » où le cauchemar côtoie le merveilleux et où la vie et le sensible surgissent de la machine de manière imprévue. Une fable où les androïdes de Blade Runner seraient ́remplacés par des animaux et où l’usine ressemblerait par certains endroits au château ensorcelé de La Belle et la Bête de Cocteau.

Lors de son arrivée dans la file d’attente, le visiteur est considèré comme un actionnaire potentiel de laCocochIndustry,lavisitedel’usineétantcenséemotiversavolonté́ d’investirdespartsdanscette industrie innovante. Avant de pénétrer au cœur de l’installation, une fresque géante présente une succession d’images promotionnelles qui présentent les produits phares de la Cococh Industry : jambon, œufs, lait, sushi… Mais aussi des petits compagnons domestiques.

L’exposition est en cours de production, la première diffusion aura lieu au TriPostal à Lille de janvier à mars 2025, disponible ensuite.
