A crucial season in the life of Alina, a 20-year-old girl from Kiev whose passion for football has saved her from destitution. Alina has become a professional player, but suddenly life brings a new challenge: her mother dies, leaving behind two young siblings, Renat and Regina, and an almost-blind grandma. Now, Alina faces a choice: football or family.

Alisa Kovalenko (1987) is a Ukrainian director, born in Zaporizhia, Eastern Ukraine, living in Kyiv. She graduated the Karpenko-Kary University of Cinema of Kyiv and the Andrzej-Wajda cinema school of Warsaw. Her first feature-documentary “Alisa in Warland”premiered at IDFA Amsterdam in 2015 in the First Appearance competition. Alisa’s second documentary, “Home Games” was again an IDFA selection, selected in more than 120 festiovals and being the first Ukrainian creative film acquired by Netflix. Alisa has become a member of The European Film Academy (EFA) in 2019. She’s the programmer of the Molodist Kyiv FF documentary competition. In March 2022, she went to fight for her country in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Alliance française de Chicago
The Alliance Française de Chicago is over 120 years old and is part of an international network of over 1,100 Alliances and affiliated cultural centers worldwide. It is the second oldest Alliance Française in the US and second largest after the Alliance Française in New York City. Classes are offered for all ages and levels of French, leading to certifications in French for professional purposes or simply for experiencing another language and its various cultures. It also hosts an impressive array of events, bringing notable lecturers to Chicago: authors, filmmakers and directors, winemakers, chefs, designers, historians, actors and performing artists.
