In solidarity with Ukrainian filmmakers, EUNIC Chicago and the Institut Français offer a free program of 5 contemporaries’ Ukrainian films this fall in Chicago.
The Institut Français wishes to highlight contemporary Ukrainian cinema through these recent works which show the quality and diversity of this thoroughly European cinematography. The films illustrate the vitality of the Ukrainian film industry for the past ten years, with an increasingly noticeable presence in foreign festivals (Cannes, Berlin, etc.). The selection voluntarily emphasizes the particularly dynamic Ukrainian documentary scene.
Free and open to the public (registration for each screening mandatory).
All films have English subtitles.

Institut français
The Institut français is responsible for France’s international cultural program. Supervised by both the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and by the Ministry of Culture, it promotes French culture abroad through cultural exchange initiatives. Operating in a space where the arts, intellectual exchange, cultural and social innovation, and linguistic partnerships interact and intersect, it is also responsible for promoting the French language and the sharing of works, artists, and ideas all over the world. The Institut français is one of Villa Albertine’s main French partners.
Alliance française de Chicago
The Alliance Française de Chicago is over 120 years old and is part of an international network of over 1,100 Alliances and affiliated cultural centers worldwide. It is the second oldest Alliance Française in the US and second largest after the Alliance Française in New York City. Classes are offered for all ages and levels of French, leading to certifications in French for professional purposes or simply for experiencing another language and its various cultures. It also hosts an impressive array of events, bringing notable lecturers to Chicago: authors, filmmakers and directors, winemakers, chefs, designers, historians, actors and performing artists.
Instituto Cervantes of Chicago
The Instituto Cervantes is a non-profit organization founded by the Government of Spain in 1991. Its mission is to promote Spanish language teaching as well as that of Spain’s co-official languages, in addition to fostering knowledge of the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries throughout the world. The central headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes are in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote, and in Madrid. The Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, Inc. was established in 1996.
Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago
The Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago is the cultural office of the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago. Founded in 1985, the Institute is one of five cultural agencies of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the United States. It is located in the heart of Chicago along the Magnificent Mile. The Institute serves as a convenient source for information about Italian life and culture that showcases Italy’s classic and contemporary heritage with particular reference to art, music, cinema, design, architecture, literature, fashion, theatre, cuisine, science, and technology. The Institute is also home to a school of Italian language and culture, as well as a venue for art exhibitions and film screenings. The Institute works alongside the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago to forge relationships with local universities and research institutions.

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago works to foster cultural exchanges between the Czech Republic and the United States, and to forge relationships with local cultural and research institutions.
Goethe-Institut Chicago
As the globally active cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe Institut advocates for understanding between Germany, Europe and the world. Together with its partners in the Midwest, the Goethe-Institut Chicago encourages cultural dialogue between Germany and the US with its multitude of diverse events, offers language courses and exams on all proficiency levels and extensive services for German teachers. It also facilitate information and artistic expressions of current aspects of the cultural, social and political life in Germany.
