Fête de la Musique’s 40th Anniversary

Join us to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Fête de la Musique on June 21! Established in 1982 by former French Minister of Culture Jack Lang, the Fête de la Musique is an annual music celebration where musicians, amateurs, and professionals are invited to play in public spaces during the summer solstice. Today, the Fête de la Musique is celebrated in more than 120 countries.
New York
SummerStage
From 7-10pm, join French artists MC Solaar, Bon Entendeur, and Hyphen Hyphen at SummerStage in Central Park for a free concert featuring some of France’s best-known artists.
This concert is organized by SummerStage, FIAF, and FranceRocks with support from MakeMusic NY and Villa Albertine.
Make Music NY
Throughout the NYC parks, look for concerts organized by Make Music NY, including one in Battery Park at 10am that will pay tribute to French music and composers, with a performance of Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals” where professional musicians will perform alongside amateurs in the spirit of this musical celebration. The concert will feature French musicians Yves Dhar (cello), Alexandre Robin (percussion), Nicolas Duchamp (flutist), and Johannes Pfannkuch (tuba).
Miami
Outside concerts with Buskerfest
Buskerfest, an annual celebration of public street performances, will partner with Make Music Miami to organize a variety of outdoor concerts during the afternoon.
Delgrès at the North Beach Bandshell
Presented with Villa Albertine and the Rhythm Foundation, in partnership with Make Music Miami, and with the support of Miami Beach Arts in the Parks, Delgrès, Paris-based Delta blues power-trio will perform a concert at the Bandshell.
Houston
Make Music on the Lake Festival
From 5:30pm to dusk, gather around at Memorial Park for the Make Music on the Lake Festival, an event organized by Villa Albertine in Texas! The public is invited to bring blankets or chairs to lay on the green or walk around the lake while enjoying the variety of 8 bands located around the area. Individuals are also encouraged to bring their guitar or violin for an impromptu jam session! A selection of food trucks will offer international specialties throughout the event and parking is available in front of the green.
Discovery Green
Join Reginald C Adams at 8pm for a Solstice Walk, organized with Make Music Houston. The evening includes a sound bath with Houston musicians using the sounds and frequencies of their instruments.

European Music Day
