La Danse en Grande Forme is a collective of 11 French organizations (Cndc – Angers, CCN – Malandain Ballet Biarritz, CCN de Caen en Normandie, Boom’Structur – Clermont-Ferrand, La Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand, CCN de Grenoble, MC2: Grenoble, CCN – Ballet national de Marseille, CCN – Ballet de Lorraine, Le Gymnase – CDCN Roubaix Hauts-de-France, and La Briqueterie – CDCN du Val-de-Marne) dedicated to supporting daring choreographic creations with at least ten performers.

The grant, which is open to companies based in France and abroad, offers significant financial contributions to productions (minimum €77,000), along with potential residencies and shared programming across French regions.

The International Dance Festival New Orleans FILM is part of the annual International Dance Festival New Orleans, a four-day event featuring live performances, dance short film screenings, masterclasses, panels, and community events celebrating cross-cultural creative exchanges and contemporary dance in the southern Gulf in USA. The festival showcases distinct voices from around the world who merge movement and film in innovative ways.

DANCE FILM @ IDFNOLA accepts films for live screening in New Orleans on September 6 and streaming on their digital platform from September 8 to 16. All forms of dance are welcome, but documentation of live performances will not be considered.

Early-bird applications close on January 10, 2025. The regular deadline is February 1, 2025.

The CCN Ballet national de Marseille offers an annual program called “Accueil Studio” to support choreographers. 

The “Accueil Studio” is aimed at artists who pay particular attention to the dynamics of dance and body representation since the advent of the Internet, a concept described by the (LA)HORDE collective as “post-Internet dance”. The program is open to choreographic and performance works, as well as film and installation projects. Artists supported by the “Accueil Studio” will benefit from a co-production budget, studio space and, in certain cases, technical and logistical support, as well as artistic and/or administrative assistance. The Ballet national de Marseille does not provide accommodation. 

Residency periods: between August 25 and December 19, 2025

  • Form to be downloaded HERE and returned completed in Excel format. Insert video links in the appropriate cells. 
  • Creation presentation file with cast and artist biography, 
  • General presentation calendar for the company/collective, 
  • History of the company’s/collective’s creations,

Septentrionales is an annual program of eco-conscious and itinerant residencies across Northern Europe (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland). These research and exploration residencies are open to all artistic disciplines.

Where? Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland
When? From August 15 to October 15, 2025
For whom? Any artist with an original artistic research project requiring an immersive stay in the Nordic region.

The call for applications is open to all disciplines until February 26, 2025. It is addressed to French artists and foreign artists residing in France for at least five years.

As part of the national Accueil Studio program, the Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble supports 6 to 8 residency and co-production projects annually.

Residencies include:

  • Studio access: A 280 m² studio with retractable seating for 1 to 3 weeks.
  • Financial support: Co-production funding of €5,000 to €10,000 and accommodation support (based on the number of artists and length of stay).
  • Opportunities for engagement:
    • Open Studio: Public presentations or discussions with local artists, researchers, or other collaborators.
    • We Want Training: Training sessions for Grenoble-based dancers, led by the artist or collaborators, tailored to the project.

Particular attention will be given to choreographic projects with transdisciplinary approaches, or those incorporating diverse disciplines and media, such as performances in public spaces, installations, or videos. The CCN emphasizes parity, diversity, and project feasibility.

Since 2010, Montpellier Danse has welcomed dozens of artists from all over the world for residencies at the Agora, cité internationale de la danse, supported by the BNP Paribas Foundation.

This place totally dedicated to dance, in the heart of the city of Montpellier, is unique in Europe. Three studios with complementary features, as well as accommodations, allow companies to work there for periods ranging from a few days to several weeks.

The residencies by Montpellier Danse in the studios of the Agora, cité internationale de la danse, are open to professional companies from all backgrounds and nationalities who apply for a residency at the Agora.

The artists may be asked, in dialogue with them, to open their studio for public rehearsals, to answer interviews, to carry out mediation actions with various audiences…

To apply for a residency at the Agora, please complete the online form before February 28th, 2025.

An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to confirm that the application has been received. The management of the Agora will notify the companies accepted for a residency for the period September 2025 to april 2026 at the latest by April 15th, 2025. 

In 2026, Villa Kujoyama will host approximately fifteen laureates for research residencies lasting between four and six months.

Villa Kujoyama is open to established artists and creators, as well as scientists working in pairs with artists, who are developing an original and unique research project requiring an immersive stay in Japan. The project must necessarily engage with local issues and foster an active dialogue with local stakeholders.

Applications may be submitted by solo candidates, French pairs, or Franco-Japanese duos. The selection process involves experts and professionals from each relevant discipline.

The call for applications for Villa Kujoyama will be open from January 23 to March 5, 2025, at midnight. Applications are limited to 250 projects.

In January 2024, The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) and Civis Foundation (a Galvan Initiatives affiliate) partnered to launch The Democracy Cycle, a new commissioning program designed to support new works that illuminate the promise, practice, imperfection, and opportunity of democracy.

Over a five-year period, The Democracy Cycle will commission and develop 25 new performing arts works across the fields of theater, dance, music, opera, and multi-disciplinary performance. The commissioned works, to be selected over the course of three annual Rounds of Open Calls (2024, 2025, and 2026) will explore themes relating to the nature, practice, and experience of democracy.

The Cycle will provide $60,000 in support to each awarded project, consisting of a $30,000 commission as well as an additional $30,000 towards each commissioned project’s development process (research, readings, workshops etc.).
