With Jacques Audiard’s musical crime comedy Emilia Perez leading the race, explore the full list of French nominees at the 97th Academy Awards!

A groundbreaking year for French cinema, Emilia Pérez won a record 13 nominations at the 2025 Oscars in all major categories, beating France’s previous record in 2012 held by The Artist and nearing Titanic‘s all-time record of 14 nominations.

Another first in Oscar history: two French filmmakers received nominations in the Best Director category, including Jacques Audiard for Emilia Pérez and Coralie Fargeat for The Substance (not a French production).

A celebration of global cinema, four out of the five Best International Feature nominees are French (co)productions, including Emilia Pérez (France), Les Graines du figuier sauvage (Germany), Flow (Latvia), and Je suis toujours là (Brazil).

Lastly, French short films made their mark with a total of four nominations in two categories.
