Césars 2022
A look back at the 2022 Césars.
The film Lost Illusions was the favorite for the 47th Cesar ceremony, with its fifteen nominations. This adaptation of the great novel by Honoré de Balzac, directed by Xavier Giannoli, won seven awards on Friday, February 25, including the best film. The film will be screened at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema festival in March.
Anamaria Vartolomei was also awarded Best Female Hope for her role in L’Evénement, by Audrey Diwan, a hard-hitting film about abortion, adapted from Annie Ernaux, which won the Golden Lion in Venice.
Valérie Lemercier won the César for best actress for her film Aline, which had ten nominations.
Benoît Magimel received the award for best actor in De son vivant, by Emmanuelle Bercot.
For the best direction, Leos Carax won the statuette for his rock opera Annette, which received five awards at the end of the ceremony.
Aïssatou Diallo Sagna, a midwife in civilian life, received her César for best supporting actor for La Fracture, a film about hospitals and the France of the “yellow jackets”, where she plays herself.
The prize for best first film went to Les Magnétiques, directed by Vincent Maël Cardona, which will also be screened at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema.
The best documentary was awarded to La Panthère des neiges, directed by Marie Amiguet and Vincent Munier.
The ceremony was also “dedicated” to the memory of Gaspard Ulliel, who died a month ago.
