Tribute to Missak Manouchian

Just a few months ago, President Macron signed the decision to induct Missak Manouchian and his spouse Mélinée into the Panthéon in Paris, on February 21, 2024, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of his execution.
To commemorate this incredible life and a historic decision, please join us on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 7pm for a screening of L’Armée des Ombres (Army of Shadows), by Jean-Pierre Melville.
A discussion will follow the screening led by two scholars, Daniel Brunstetter, Professor of Political Science at UC Irvine, Emilie Garrigou-Kempton, professor of French at Pasadena City College and specialist in Holocaust remembrance and Monique Saigal Escudero, born under nazi occupied France and author of French Heroines 1940-1945. This event is organized in partnership with the American Cinematheque, University of California, Irvine’s Center for Citizen Peacebuilding and Pasadena City College.
