Participating Authors: Gaël Octavia, Alfred Alexandre and Colombe Schneck
From thought-provoking conversations to literary discoveries, Villa Albertine returns to the 2026 Miami Book Fair to celebrate the voices, stories, and ideas connecting French-language literature with readers across cultures.
Discover French-language literature at our pop-up bookstore throughout the street fair.
From November 20 to 22, visitors are invited to stop by Villa Albertine’s pop-up bookstore, organized in partnership with Albertine Books and Books & Books. Featuring a curated selection of French-language books for readers of all ages, the bookstore offers an opportunity to discover new authors, explore different literary traditions, and bring home stories that cross borders and cultures.
Colombe Schneck: On Desire, Memory, and Letting Go
One of the highlights of Villa Albertine’s program is “To Desire Is to Let Go“, a talk by French journalist and author Colombe Schneck on November 22, in which she will present her latest book, Swimming in Paris: A Life in Three Stories.
Martinican Literature in the Spotlight: “Lives on the Margins”
Villa Albertine will also present the French-language panel discussion “Lives on the Margins: Desire, Freedom, and Martinican Imaginaries,” featuring French authors from Martinique Gaël Octavia and Alfred Alexandre, as part of the Read Caribbean program, in conversation with Haitian author Nicolas André.
Bringing together literary voices connected to Martinique and Haiti, the discussion will explore how fiction gives expression to lives and experiences often situated at the margins. Through questions of desire, freedom, and the imagination, the conversation will examine how literature engages with individual aspirations, social expectations, and the complexities of Caribbean identities.
