Discover French films from around the world and filmmaker Johanna Makabi’s cinematic highlights at the French Film Festival in New Orleans.
The 27th annual New Orleans French Film Festival, presented by the New Orleans Film Society (NOFS), is scheduled to take place at the historic Prytania Theatre from February 22 to 28, 2024, with additional virtual screenings available from February 22 to March 3.
One of the highlights of this year’s festival is the spotlight on Johanna Makabi, a filmmaker of Senegalese and Congolese descent and a 2024 Villa Albertine resident. Makabi’s work will be celebrated with screenings of four of her films, accompanied by a discussion about her artistic vision and cinematic style.
In addition to Makabi’s films, the festival lineup features a diverse selection of 14 feature films and 10 short films, all highlighting francophone communities from various parts of the world.
These films, presented in French with English subtitles, hail from countries including Belgium, Canada, the Democratic Republic of Congo, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, and the USA.
