French Talent continues to shine at the Annie Awards!

The Annie Awards, often regarded as the animation equivalent of the Oscars, have unveiled their nominations for the upcoming 51st annual ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association, has been presenting these accolades since 1972, recognizing outstanding achievements in the field of animation.
French animation continues to shine at the Annie Awards, with three nominated works in the category of Best Independent Feature: Ernest & Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia, a heartwarming tale challenging societal prejudices as a bear and a mouse form an unlikely friendship by Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger. Robot Dreams, a Franco-Spanish co-production that explores the friendship between a dog and a robot in 80’s NYC by Pablo Berger. And The Inventor an American animated film produced in France, which recounts Leonardo da Vinci’s pursuit of knowledge with the help of French princess Marguerite of Navarre by Jim Capobianco and co-directed by Pierre-Luc Granjon. France is also represented in the category of Best Short Subject with the Franco-Belgian short: PINA by Jérémy Depuydt and Giuseppe Accardo.
The French animation school, Gobelins, l’école de l’image school and the French FX production company, Blue Spirit have also earned nominations at the Annie Awards, showcasing the excellence and contribution of French talent to the animation industry.
