Partnering with the 5th Chicago Architecture Biennial (CAB5), Villa Albertine presents French Perspectives through its City/Cité program, a transatlantic initiative on urban issues conceived in 2015 and since implemented in Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Reinventing artists’ residencies, Villa Albertine is creating a network for arts and ideas spanning France and the United States. It offers tailor-made residencies across the country to global creators, thinkers and cultural professionals.

Urban planning lies at the core of the Paris-Chicago Sister City partnership. Community issues are also at the heart of the Clichycago project developed with a major partner for Villa Albertine in Chicago : the Ateliers Médicis, a cultural institution located in Clichy-sous-Bois/Montfermeil, on the outskirts of Paris.
Titled This is a Rehearsal, CAB5 explores how global environmental, political, and economic challenges are approached through art, architecture, infrastructure, and civic engagement.
For this edition, six Villa Albertine residents return to Chicago to share city-inspired work: Hamid Ben Mahi, Jennifer Buyck, Chayma Drira, Susanne Eliasson, Anthony Jammes(GRAU), and Pierre-Alexandre Savriacouty. We are also delighted that three current residents are official contributors to the biennial’s program : Pascale Dalix, Frédéric Chartier and Feda Wardak.
City/Cité and its French Perspectives resonate this fall across seven sites in Chicago, showcasing installations, workshops, exhibitions, panels, book launches, talks, and performances.
Chicago Architecture Biennial
The Chicago Architecture Biennial (CAB) is dedicated to creating an international forum on architecture and urbanism. It produces year-round programs and a biennial exposition of city-wide activations for a diverse audience of designers, educators, advocates, and students. CAB’s mission is to engage and inspire professional and public audiences, highlight the transformative power of architecture and envision a future for the field that is equitable and sustainable.
