Author Mohamed Mbougar Sarr is on tour in the US to promote the release of his novel The Most Secret Memory of Men (translated by Lara Vergnaud, Other Press, 2023), and joins us in the Bay Area next week for a talk at UC Berkeley!
Sarr was born in Dakar, Senegal, and later studied literature and philosophy at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. In 2021, he became the first writer from sub-Saharan Africa to be awarded France’s oldest and most prestigious literary prize, the Prix Goncourt, for his fourth novel The Most Secret Memory Of Men. In this gripping literary mystery and coming-of-age novel, Sarr unravels the fascinating life of a maligned Black author, based on Yambo Ouologuem.
Join us Thursday for Sarr’s presentation.
