On Tuesday, August 20, Films on the Green will return to Washington, D.C. with a screening of Breathless.

Presented by Villa Albertine in honor of the 250th anniversary of French-American relations, this series celebrates cultural exchange and cinematic collaboration between the two countries on the silver screen.

Small-time criminal Michel sees himself as a suave outlaw in the style of Humphrey Bogart, but panics and impulsively kills a policeman while driving a stolen car. On the lam, he hides out in the Parisian apartment of his aspiring journalist girlfriend, Patricia, while trying to pool together enough money to get the pair to Italy. But when Patricia learns that her boyfriend is being investigated for murder, she begins to question her loyalties.  

Free and open to the public (no ticket needed).
