The American Cinematheque remembers French acting icon Alain Delon for his distinguished contribution to cinema across many decades with this 7 film retrospective celebrating some of the actor’s greatest performances.
His career enjoyed collaborations with legendary filmmakers of the period such as Jean-Pierre Melville, Jean-Luc Godard, Luchino Visconti, Michelangelo Antonioni and Louis Malle. Perhaps above all, Delon’s cool and enigmatic screen presence has persisted for generations of audiences who remember him in such vital roles as Jef Costello in LE SAMOURAÏ, Robert Klein in MR. KLEIN, Jean-Paul in LA PISCINE, Corey in LE CERCLE ROUGE, Piero in L’ECLISSE, Rocco in ROCCO AND HIS BROTHERS, and as Tom Ripley in PURPLE NOON, the French adaptation of the classic novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley.
