As part of their ‘Female Filmmakers across the decades’ series, the Secret Movie Club will screen Agnès Varda’s masterpiece Cleo from 5 to 7 on Thursday, June 29 at 9:15 pm.
Along with Věra Chytilová’s Daisies, the Secret Movie Club will screen Cleo from 5 to 7 by Agnès Varda on Thursday, June 29 at 9:15 pm. This is a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover this central work of the French New Wave that proved decisive for the place of women in cinema, both in front of and behind the camera.
Synopsis : Cleo, a young and pretty singer, waits for the results of medical tests. From superstition to fear, from the Rue de Rivoli to the Café du Dôme, from coquetry to anxiety, from her apartment to Parc Montsouris, Cleo lives through ninety peculiar minutes. Her lover, a musician accompanist, a female friend, and then a soldier open up her eyes to the world.
