Launched in 2021, CinéSchool is a free educational film program for young audiences, designed to help students learn French in the United States through French-language cinema. It is part of the French for All initiative launched by Villa Albertine and Albertine Foundation.

It is open to French teachers in public and private not-for-profit schools, accredited schools (AEFE network), Alliances Françaises and FLAM (Français Langue Maternelle) programs.

The program offers a selection of French-language films suitable for different age groups, from elementary school to high school, available online for viewing at home and accompanied by comprehensive educational resources.

Educational Resources

Teachers have access to workbooks for themselves and their students, allowing them to study the films in class before watching them. After the screenings, activities take place on the digital platform Padlet, providing students with the opportunity to express their opinions about the films and practice their French in an engaging way. Additionally, comprehension activities are available on the Genially platform, with self-correcting quizzes that help students verify and deepen their understanding of the films. The use of these fun and interactive digital tools facilitates a flexible and enriching learning experience.

An Immersive Experience

CinéSchool offers teachers a unique opportunity to develop French language learning while enabling students to discover the diversity of French-speaking cultures. The films are available online for viewing at home, allowing students to discover them at their own pace, and even with their families.
