In 2008, Villa Albertine launched a free outdoor French film festival in New York City parks. Since then, Films on the Green has grown and expanded in other cities in the US, including Chicago, Washington, DC, and Boston.

“Films on the Green is one of the most anticipated free public events of the year, and we are beyond delighted to bring it back with such diverse programming and partners across four different cities,” said Gaëtan Bruel, Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy in the US and Director of Villa Albertine.

Films on the Green in New York City

Films on the Green is a free outdoor French film festival produced annually in New York City parks by Villa Albertine, the French Embassy, FACE Foundation, and NYC Parks. The festival was first launched in 2008 as a community-oriented festival that reaches out to audiences in the heart of their own neighborhoods—in parks and community gardens across New York City. Since then, the festival has expanded tremendously.

The 15th edition of Films on the Green is coming to NYC’s parks this summer from June 2 to September 8, 2023! This year’s theme is all about dance, with a lineup of 12 stunning features celebrating the beauty, rhythm, and emotion of the art form. You can discover the film selection here.
