Each year, the Embassy of France, in partnership with France Éducation international, places English Language Assistants in French schools across metropolitan France, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Réunion Island through the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF). At the same time, French Language Assistants are placed in schools across all 50 U.S. states through the French Teaching Internship (FTI). Since1945, U.S. participants have taken part in the Teaching Assistant Program. Over 1,200 Language Assistants are placed each year.

The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF)

One of Villa Albertine’s flagship programs, the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) gives American citizens the opportunity to serve as English Language Assistants in French schools, fostering cultural exchange while gaining valuable international teaching experience.

TAPIF alumni go on to successful careers in education, international business, public health, diplomacy, international development, arts and culture administration, and many other fields. By joining TAPIF, you’ll become part of a global community of more than 30,000 alumni, building lifelong personal and professional connections around the world.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a passport valid through the end of the contract in France.
• Be between 20 and 35 years old.
• Have completed at least three years of higher education.
• Be a native English speaker with intermediate French proficiency (B1 level on the CEFR scale).

As a TAPIF participant, you will:

• Assist English teachers for up to 12 hours per week.
• Work in up to three schools.
• Live and work in France for seven months (October–April).
• Receive a monthly stipend of €1,010.67 gross (approximately €810 net, depending on regional deductions).
