July 14 is Bastille Day, France’s national day. It marks the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille in 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution that led to the creation of the first French Republic. Read on to see what kind of French culture celebration is happening near you!

FIAF’s Bastille Day Celebration 

What: Live music and dance performances, wine and champagne tastings, a screening of Azuro, fun French activities for children and adults, raffles, and more than 40 booths showcasing French food and Francophone culture, presented by the French Institute Alliance Française

Screening of Fever Mounts at El Pao

What: The New York City debut of France’s Hot Sugar Band, whose sound is a mix of Django Reinhardt big band works, John Kirby’s sextet, and Duke Ellington classics
