Villa Albertine is pleased to present the Albertine Translation Prize Ceremony! The Albertine Translation Fund & Prizes honors translators and US publishers of English translations of contemporary French and francophone works. Among the books supported by the program, the Committee has selected two laureates (one in fiction and one in non-fiction) who will be announced in a ceremony at Villa Albertine Headquarters in New York on January 25, 2024.

Albertine Translation Fund & Prizes, an enhanced version of the former French Voices Awards, was launched in 2022. Representing new trends in all categories, including fiction, non-fiction, and comics, it recognizes the quality of both the original work and the translation.

Chosen by a committee of independent professional experts (academics, translators, and publishers), the works epitomize the many facets of a vibrant French and francophone literary scene. Each selected book receives $2,000 to cover the publishing costs and 50% of the translation costs, up to $5,000.

The Albertine Translation Committee also chooses two winners each year among the recipients – one in fiction and one in non-fiction. The winners each receive a $5,000 prize allocated to the translator.
