Villa Albertine Honors the Stars of Emilia Pérez
Distinction bestowed upon cast of actors, recognizing their talents
New York, October 3, 2024 – Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, presented the insignia of Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres to the stars of the film Emilia Pérez (2024), Karla Sofia Gascón, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Edgar Ramirez, and Zoe Saldaña. Emilia Pérez was awarded the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and will represent France at the Academy Awards in 2025.
The actors received the distinction in an intimate ceremony where Mohamed Bouabdallah, Cultural Counselor of France in the United States and Director of Villa Albertine, recognized their significant talents and the impact they each have had upon French cinema and culture.
“It is a privilege to celebrate your remarkable contributions at this hour and for this film,” Bouabdallah stated. “We are here today… not only because one of [Villa Albertine’s] missions is to promote French cinema in the US but also because, even more importantly, you all spent significant time in France shooting Emilia Pérez.”
Friends, family, and colleagues from the film industry were present to witness the bestowing of the awards.Established in 1957, the award of arts and letters recognizes eminent artists and writers, as well as people who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts in France and throughout the world.
