Dedicated to the theme Fashion in Film, this year’s edition of Films on the Green invites you to discover the glamour of French style across five cities. From the vibrant 1960s flair of Jacques Demy’s The Young Girls of Rochefort in New York City, to Nathalie Baye’s performance as Head Seamstress at Dior Avenue Montaigne workshop in Haute Couture in Chicago. In Houston, experience The Animal Kingdom, winner of the César Award for Best Costume Design, followed by a stunning finale in Washington, D.C. with Jean Paul Gaultier’s visionary futuristic costumes in The Fifth Element.
In another exciting first, this year’s screenings will open with a selection of AI Shorts curated by mk2, one of the leading companies in arthouse cinema. These short films, created or enhanced using artificial intelligence, were shown in France during the Artefact AI Film Festival after being selected by an exceptional jury chaired by the director of Amélie, legendary filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet. They open up new creative horizons and resonate with Villa Albertine’s ongoing exploration of the intersection between art and technology, from our dedicated AI Residencies for artists to the latest issue of States magazine, “Arts in the Age of AI.”
Celebrate French cinema and style under the stars. Films on the Green is coming to a city near you! Stay tuned for the full lineup of events across the US.

Films on the Green is a free outdoor French film festival produced annually in New York City parks by Villa Albertine and Albertine Foundation. The festival was first launched in 2008 as a community-oriented festival that reaches out to audiences in the heart of neighborhood parks and community gardens across New York City. Since then, the festival has expanded tremendously. The 17th edition of Films on the Green is coming to NYC’s parks this summer from May 30 to June 27!
Romance and the role of women is central to each of the movies selected for the series. Featuring a biopic, musical comedy, and drama, audiences will watch a dramatization of the life and career of Coco Chanel, starring Academy Award nominee Audrey Tautou’ Jacques Demy’s iconic musical starring sisters Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac’s search for love in the 1960s; and Jacques Falbalas.
