Nine French (Co-)Productions Officially in the Running for the 2026 Oscars

Butterfly (Xbo Films). 2025

We are thrilled to share the full list of French productions and co-productions that are nominated for the 98th Academy Awards, exemplifying the remarkable presence of French cinema in Hollywood, alongside the artists, producers, and partners who help bring these stories to U.S. audiences.

This impressive selection highlights the long road to the Oscars, which began with France naming the Persian-language thriller It Was Just an Accident as its official submission for Best International Feature Film. On December 12, 22 French productions and co-productions earned spots on the Oscars shortlist across 12 categories, including Animated Short Film, Casting, Cinematography, and International Feature Film.

Discover the list of official nominees below—and tune in to the ceremony on March 15 on ABC and Hulu at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).
