“Soie” by the French Theater Project

The French Theater Project brings a new contemporary production, Soie, to Boston from May 1st to May 3rd, 2026 at the Mosesian Center for the Arts – Watertown.
The French Theater Project brings the play Soie to Boston, focusing on Hervé Joncour, the main protagonist who undertakes four trips to Japan to purchase silkworm eggs during the 1860s. His life changes drastically when he falls madly in love with a beautiful stranger, caught between impossible loves, obsession and sensuality.
This production performed by Sylvie Dorliat is an adaptation of the famous Italian novel Seta written by Alessandro Baricco published in 1996.
Performed in French with English captions, suitable for ages 14+.

The French Theater Project is a Boston-based cultural organization created in 2022, with a main mission is to spread knowledge of contemporary French theater to audiences in America. They present touring French stage productions in their original versions, with the addition of English captions. The organization also organize school visits and public conversations between American audiences and French writers, designers, actors, and directors speaking about their works and careers.
