As part of its Martin Luther King Day celebrations, Echoes of Freedom, the Hyde Park Art Center is hosting two screenings of the acclaimed documentary King of Kings: Chasing Edward Jones.

In her documentary, Director Harriet Marin Jones presents a compelling exploration of Edward Jones, a trailblazing figure in Chicago’s history. Known as one of the city’s influential Policy Kings, Jones transformed the numbers game into a precursor of the modern lottery system, leaving an indelible mark on the city’s economic and social landscape. With free admission and inclusive programming, Hyde Park Art Center invites everyone to join Echoes of Freedom in honoring a legacy that continues to shape our collective future. In addition to the film screenings, the event features a vibrant array of activities to engage and inspire : interactive art activities for all ages, live music and sonic performances, activations on cultural narratives, zine-making workshop.
