From March 20 to April 20, 2025, celebrate Francophone heritage with music, discussions, and community events across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

The festival brings together museums, universities, schools, associations, libraries,
and artists to highlight the richness of the French language and Francophone traditions. By offering a platform for cultural expression and exchange, the festival unites French-speaking communities while fostering a deeper appreciation for their diverse heritage.

Kick-Off Event: An Evening of Music & Dialogue

The official kick-off event, organized by Villa Albertine Houston in partnership with the Cité
Internationale de la langue française, will take place at the Alliance Française of Houston on March 21 at 6PM. This event is free and open to the public, with online reservations required. The evening will feature a panel discussion and a concert.

Our special guests for this event include:

  • Director Paul Rondin and representatives from the Cité Internationale de la Langue
Française, a cultural center in France dedicated to the French language.
  • French journalist Bertrand Dicale, a specialist in Francophone music.
  • Singers Mélissa Laveaux and Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes, who will discuss how languages travels through music, followed by a live performance.
  • The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Amanda Vredenburgh, a scholar specializing in contemporary French and Francophone studies. Her research includes a focus on
    postcolonial studies.

The Alliance Française, located in the vibrant Montrose neighborhood of Houston, will host the event in its main hall and garden, offering an inspiring space for discussions on Creole French, linguistic diversity, and musical influences across cultures.
