Join Villa Albertine San Francisco for a compelling and visually rich conversation with Alice Guillot-Lefeuvre, PhD candidate in Film and Audiovisual Studies at Université Lumière Lyon 2, Université Lumière Lyon 2, whose research sits at the intersection of cinema, the body, and queer theory. Her doctoral work delves into striking images of monstrous metamorphosis in contemporary French genre cinema, examining how bodily transformation becomes a powerful language for exploring identity, desire, and resistance.

Drawing from the humanities and social sciences, particularly gender studies and film iconology, Alice Guillot- Lefeuvre investigates how today’s filmmakers reshape the human body on screen, turning mutation and excess into bold tools for rethinking norms around gender, sexuality, and embodiment.
In this talk, Guillot-Lefeuvrre will guide audiences through the provocative and unsettling worlds of directors such as Julia Ducournau (RawTitane) and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance), offering accessible insights into their aesthetics, themes, and cultural impact.
