Albertine Conversations

Program

Starting in 2026

Albertine Conversations is a program created by Villa Albertine in partnership with universities and cultural institutions across the United States. Bringing together academics, policy experts, scientists, and community advocates from France and the United States, it explores some of the most pressing questions of our time through three main themes:

The Democracy Series focuses on the future of democracy, examining current challenges to democratic values and institutions, whether cultural, legal, economic, technological or environmental.

The Ecology Series centers on our evolving understanding of what constitutes life on earth, and the social and cultural implications of those shifts in the context of environmental crises.

The Critical Technologies Series interrogates the notion of progress in relation to the fast-evolving fields of AI, digital media, as well as biotechnologies, weighing on the promises and risks each involves.

In partnership with

Institut français

The Institut français is responsible for France’s international cultural program. Supervised by both the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and by the Ministry of Culture, it promotes French culture abroad through cultural exchange initiatives. Operating in a space where the arts, intellectual exchange, cultural and social innovation, and linguistic partnerships interact and intersect, it is also responsible for promoting the French language and the sharing of works, artists, and ideas all over the world. The Institut français is one of Villa Albertine’s main French partners.
