Shoot the Book!
Created at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, Shoot the Book! is a program that brings together publishers, producers, talent agencies, and studios.
Shoot the Book! Los Angeles, launched in 2016, is a platform dedicated to the American market and designed to showcase a selection of cutting-edge IPs chosen for their potential as screen adaptations (film, television, and other digital formats).
During Shoot the Book! Los Angeles, French rights managers spend four days pitching titles selected by a high-profile Hollywood jury, and keynote speakers present the state of the market for adaptations and how, according to the Los Angeles Times, “Hollywood has gobbled up book rights during the pandemic.” An online BtoB market with selected professionals concludes the four-day program.
As of 2020, the online program is open to East Coast professionals.
Shoot the Book! Los Angeles is produced by the French Mission for Culture and Higher Education in the United States (Los Angeles branch) with the support of the Société Civile des Éditeurs de Langue Française (SCELF), Bureau International de l’Edition française (BIEF) and l’Institut français.
