Technical Officer

Institut Français des Etats-Unis – Villa Albertine New York is hiring a Technical Officer (at will contract). The position will start on September 1, 2025.

I. Brief Presentation

Reporting to the Secretary General and under the supervision of the building Intendant, the Technical Officer is in charge of the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the New York headquarters, and for monitoring inventory and equipment preparation. The officer works as part of a team whose role is to provide technical and logistical support to the establishment’s teams, and service to the establishment’s users and guests. Moreover, the officer will be involved in the logistical and technical support of events organized on Villa Albertine’s premises (and occasionally for external events).

II. Job Description

Building Maintenance

  • Routine upkeep and simple building repairs, minor maintenance work (painting, electricity, plumbing, etc.), emergency response, regular building inspections, participation in diagnostics to determine work to be carried out.
  • Support for specialized technical service providers
  • Follow-up and organization of the facility’s inventory and technical equipment.

Technical

  • Logistics and hefting/handling operator, room preparation (meetings, conferences, award ceremonies, etc.), monitoring of order deliveries;
  • Support in setting up events (handling, technical support for audio/video equipment, etc.) and ordering/tidying up afterwards;
  • Participation in setting up office spaces (furniture and supplies).

Logistic and Mail Management

  • Receive, distribute, and postage of incoming and outgoing mail;
  • Possible coverage at reception during the 30-minute break of the staff member concerned.
  • Use of company vehicles to transport people and/or cultural materials, as required.

IV. Job Details

  • This is a 100% in-person position based in New York City.
  • Institut Français des Etats-Unis – Villa Albertine: 972 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10075
  • At Will employment with a 3-month trial period.
  • Occasional availability for events on weekends and in the evenings.
  • Benefits:
    • * Gross Salary: from 4,540 USD/month, full-time basis with a monthly transportation allowance of $120.
