On October 27th, award-winning director Christine Angot joins Zoë Elton, Artistic Director of the Mill Valley Film Festival, for a screening of A Family (dir. Angot, 2024), a mind blowing documentary about a woman who, having experienced the brutality of incest, is determined to understand how her family has dealt with the situation.
The film explores the reasons such acts were left unchallenged, examines her father’s role, and reflects on the personal and societal consequences of facing the truth, both then and now. The film is in French with English subtitles.
Zoë Elton is a film curator, writer, interviewer, and cartoonist originally from England. She is involved with the Mill Valley Film Festival, where she has been instrumental in shaping its creative direction.
