As part of Villa Albertine’s new Power(s) of Water festival and the Revolution Per Minute festival, join us on September 27 at 7pm for the Water I experimental film screening.
As we confront unprecedented ecological challenges, the art of moving images plays a crucial role in fostering a more informed and motivated global community.
RPM Festival, Art Department of UMass-Boston, and Goethe Institut Boston co-present a compelling two-part artistic film series focused on water and climate. In an era marked by climate change, these experimental short films offer a unique perspective for addressing our environmental crisis. Rather than merely depicting the harsh realities of environmental degradation, this series engages audiences on an emotional level, presenting both the urgent need for action and the hopeful possibilities for a sustainable future.
Through this innovative artistic approach, these films aim to inspire and catalyze meaningful change.
This program is part of the annual Revolution Per Minute festival, which showcases short experimental films and video artworks. The festival runs from September 27 to October 1 and features 80 carefully selected films from over 500 submissions. This year marks the festival’s fifth anniversary in Boston and tenth since its inception. It is dedicated to short-lived poetic, personal and cinematographic works in the fields of experimentation, essay film, animation, documentary, video and audiovisual performance.

The Revolution Per Minute Festival in Boston is an artist run festival, is dedicated to short-form poetic, personal, cinematic work in experiments, essay film, animation, documentary, video and audiovisual performance.

Institut français
The Institut français is responsible for France’s international cultural program. Supervised by both the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and by the Ministry of Culture, it promotes French culture abroad through cultural exchange initiatives. Operating in a space where the arts, intellectual exchange, cultural and social innovation, and linguistic partnerships interact and intersect, it is also responsible for promoting the French language and the sharing of works, artists, and ideas all over the world. The Institut français is one of Villa Albertine’s main French partners.
Franco-German Cultural Fund
The Franco-German Cultural Fund is an initiative to promote cultural exchange and artistic collaboration between France and Germany. It supports joint projects, artist residencies and cultural events, thus strengthening relations between the two countries. The main aim of the fund is to foster mutual understanding and enrich cultural exchanges by supporting creative and innovative initiatives.
