Artist
Born in 1973. Lives and works in Toulouse, France.
Like an urban landscape in constant motion, Tilt’s work inventories the traces of a shared experience, scattered across time and space.
Having started out as a graffiti artist, he creates works in which the boundaries between city and landscape merge into gestural painting.Movement and matter come together in a philosophy of the trace in the footsteps of our collective memory. Relating the wall writings whose images he collects on his travels, he never ceases to develop his creation by weaving links between urban and cultural territories. A link between multiple worlds, the wall as a support and as a motif remains at the center of a pictorial reflection vacillating between abstraction and figuration. At the crossroads of human interaction, the wall stands as an unusual palimpsest where past and present intersect, and it is on these foundations that Tilt creates the basis for an archaeology of the future.
Tilt has exhibited at the Musée d’Art Contemporain Les Abattoirs in Toulouse and the Musée Mohammed VI d’Art Moderne et Contemporain in Rabat. His works are part of the collections of the Mucem in Marseille, the Pera Museum in Istanbul and the Montresso Foundation* in Marrakech. In 2018, he won the Prix L’art est vivant – Promesses, during the Art Paris fair at the Grand Palais.
