“Crooks in Clover” (“Les tontons flingueurs”) film screening

Villa Albertine DC is pleased to screen “Crooks in Clover” (“Les tontons flingueurs”), the legendary 1963 comedy directed by Georges Lautner and written by Michel Audiard, whose razor-sharp dialogue has become part of French popular culture. Starring Lino Ventura, Bernard Blier, and Francis Blanche, the film is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and endlessly quoted works in French cinema history.

Synopsis: A dying mob boss hands over his business to an old friend, Fernand. The boss’ assistants want to get rid of the latter. But are the Volfoni brothers and Théo real threats? Ensuing fights and shootouts are more comical than deadly.

Following the screening, the ALPA (Embassy Staff Leisure Association) will host a live Q&A and interactive quiz, inviting audiences to explore the film’s cult status in a lively and playful discussion.

Security Rules: Each person attending the event must have a ticket registered in their name and a government-issued ID that matches the name on the reservation to enter the Embassy. No one will be admitted without a reservation and official ID. Due to strict security measures, please arrive on time, as doors will be closed at 7:30 pm sharp. Please allow for extra time for security screenings.

For security reasons, large bags, umbrellas, backpacks, and bike helmets are not allowed on Embassy grounds. The security team may confiscate any items considered inappropriate.

There is no on-site parking.
