A vibrant celebration of rhythm, connection, and boundless artistic vision
Five-time Grammy Award–winning artist Angélique Kidjo makes her long-awaited return to Ann Arbor, bringing her unmistakable voice, radiant energy, and joy-filled music back to the stage for the first time since 2020.
Recognized by TIME as one of the “Most Influential People” of 2021 and hailed by The Guardian as one of the “Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World,” Kidjo stands among the most powerful creative forces in international music today. Her work boldly bridges genres, generations, and cultures— weaving West African rhythms with jazz, pop, funk, R&B, Latin grooves, and contemporary dance music. Through this musical alchemy, she honors Africa’s rich heritage while constantly pushing its sound into new, forward-looking territories.
Over the course of four decades, Kidjo has built an extraordinarily diverse artistic journey, collaborating with some of the world’s most celebrated musicians, including Bono, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Yo-Yo Ma, Branford Marsalis, Carlos Santana, Philip Glass, Dianne Reeves, and the Kronos Quartet. As NPR writes, “Her music transcends mere danceability and instead possesses you with its rhythm, leaving you no choice but to move with the groove.”
Her return promises an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance—an invitation to connect, celebrate, and move together.
