Jean-Efflam Bavouzet : The Complete Ravel Piano Works

Making his Schubert Club debut, French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet presents two evenings dedicated to Maurice Ravel’s piano music. From early works such as Sérénade grotesque and Menuet antique to the crystalline textures of Jeux d’eau and the shimmering landscapes of Miroirs, Bavouzet reveals the evolution of Ravel’s unique voice at the keyboard. The program culminates with La Valse, a dazzling reimagining of the waltz tradition that merges elegance with vertiginous power. Throughout, Bavouzet’s impeccable technique and poetic sensitivity illuminate some of the most complex and demanding works in the piano repertoire.

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is one of today’s most celebrated interpreters of French repertoire, hailed for both his artistry and his prolific international career. A regular guest with leading orchestras worldwide, he has collaborated with conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Vasily Petrenko, Gianandrea Noseda, and Leonard Slatkin. His concert tours have taken him across Europe, Asia, and the United States, with appearances at major venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, where he is currently artist-in-residence.

Bavouzet’s extensive discography on the Chandos label has garnered top awards from Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, and The New York Times. In 2022, he served on the jury of the prestigious Van Cliburn Competition, affirming his stature as a leading voice in today’s piano world. He also teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, sharing his expertise with the next generation of pianists.
