Season 2 Final Jury Experts

The final selection jury for Villa Albertine’s 2023 residency program comprises the following members: 

• Nonny De la Peña, Founder, Emblematic Group and Founding Director, Narrative and Emerging Media Program, Arizona State University
• Gina Duncan, President of BAM
• Dawn Hudson, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences  
• Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou 
• Glenn D. Lowry, David Rockefeller Director of the Museum of Modern Art
• Marie-Cécile Zinsou, President of the Zinsou Foundation 

The jury is chaired by Gaëtan Bruel, Director of Villa Albertine. 

Gaëtan Bruel

Director of Villa Albertine

Trained as a historian, Gaëtan Bruel has worked in three different French ministries—Defense, Culture, and Foreign Affairs— specializing in cultural affairs. He has been Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy and Permanent Representative of French Universities in the United States since September 2019 and has served as Villa Albertine’s first director since September 2021.

Nonny de la Peña

Founder, Emblematic Group and Founding Director, Narrative and Emerging Media Program, Arizona State University

Nonny de la Peña is the Peabody Award-winning founder of Emblematic Group, focused on using cutting-edge technologies to tell stories that create intense, empathic engagement. She recently joined Arizona State University as the founding director of the new Narrative and Emerging Media center. A former correspondent for Newsweek and a pioneer of immersive journalism, she is a WSJ Technology Innovator of the Year, one of CNET’s 20 Most Influential Latinos in Tech, and a Wired Magazine #MakeTechHuman Agent of Change.

Gina Duncan

President of BAM

Gina Duncan began her tenure as the President of BAM in April 2022, after having previously served as the Vice President of Film and Strategic Programming from 2017-2020.  Gina returns to BAM after two years as the Producing Director of the Sundance Institute. During her tenure, she was responsible for producing the Sundance Film Festival online and in person, as well as managing the Institute’s year-round operations.

Dawn Hudson

CEO, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Dawn Hudson serves as the CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Hudson oversees the Academy’s staff, operations and outreach, awards, membership, marketing, communications, finance, technology and the Academy Foundation, which includes the Margaret Herrick Library and the Academy Film Archive. Hudson also sits on the Board of Trustees of the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

Laurent Le Bon

President of the Centre Pompidou

Laurent Le Bon, the General Curator of French Artistic Heritage, was previously in charge of public commissions at the French Ministry of Culture, and Curator at the National Museum of Modern Art of the National Center for Art and Culture–Georges Pompidou. He was also Director of the Pompidou Center–Metz from 2008 to 2014, and Director of the National Picasso Museum–Paris from 2014 to 2021. In July 2021, he was appointed President of the National Center for Art and Culture–Georges Pompidou.

Glenn D. Lowry

The David Rockefeller Director of the Museum of Modern Art

Glenn D. Lowry is the sixth director of The Museum of Modern Art. He leads a staff of over 800 people and directs an active program of exhibitions, acquisitions, and publications. He is a member of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s Board of Trustees, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Trustee of the Clark Art Institute, and an Officier dans L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France.

Marie Cécile Zinsou

President of the Zinsou Foundation

Marie-Cécile Zinsou is President of the Zinsou Foundation, which she founded in 2005 in Cotonou, Benin. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting African contemporary art around the world. In 2013, she opened the Museum of Contemporary Art in Whydah. Since October 2021, she has been President of the Board of Directors of Villa Medici.
