Launch of the Lafayette Fellowship Program by His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic

On Tuesday, September 23, livestream a special conversation with His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, in honor of the inaugural edition of the Lafayette Fellowship.

In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence, and in the spirit of longstanding ties between France and the United States, the French Embassy in the United States, Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, and France Science officially launch the Lafayette Fellowship.

To celebrate this launch, the French Embassy in the United States and Villa Albertine are honored to host a conversation on the future of cooperation in higher education between France and the United States, presided over by His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic.  

The program will begin with a welcome address by Mohamed Bouabdallah, Cultural Counselor of France in the U.S. and Director of Villa Albertine, followed by remarks by His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, and a conversation with students from US universities.

About the Lafayette Fellowship  

The Lafayette Fellowship will support up to 30 outstanding US students for one year of master’s-level study at one of 15 top French institutions. Programs span Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, the Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts, offered in English or French.  

Alongside their academic coursework, fellows will join the French-American Leadership Program, gaining mentorship support and full immersion into European innovation, culture, and policy.
