On Thursday, April 25, experience a sonic journey that transcends borders with jazz duo Fabien Enger and Justin Griggs.
Duo Fabien Enger and Justin Griggs bring the sheer magic of synchronized improvisation to the Maison Française – Villa Albertine during a one of a kind jazz concert, blending a shared love for organic, inventive expression.
Whether they’re delving into their own compositions or reinventing jazz standards, they infuse each note with fresh colors while staying true to the essence and authenticity of the music. Moreover, they pay homage to the legends who’ve paved the way—think Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, John Cage, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, and other musical titans.
About the Artists
Fabien Enger and Justin Griggs, hailing from Temple University, first crossed paths in 2022.
Fabien Enger, Trumpeter
Fabien Enger is a French trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. A 2022 Fulbright laureate and the 2023 winner of the Arnaud Roujou de Boubée Award, Fabien is currently pursuing his graduate studies in Jazz Music at Temple University in Philadelphia. In addition to performing as a bandleader, he has collaborated with and played alongside notable musicians, including Bobby Zankel, Nazir Ebo, Chad Taylor, Lee Smith, Sumi Tonooka (The Wonderful Sound Warriors), and Andy Emler (MegaOctet), to name a few. Trained in both classical and jazz music at multiple conservatories and universities across France, Fabien Enger will soon release a new album with Justin Griggs, recorded in Philadelphia. As a 2023-2024 resident of the NOUS Foundation, Fabien has the opportunity to explore the rich and historical jazz culture of New Orleans, where he will showcase his original music and meet local artists as well as representatives of the city’s major musical and cultural institutions.
Justin Griggs, Pianist
Inspired by a range of genres from gospel to rock, Justin Griggs began performing in church at the age of 8, blending diverse musical influences into his unique sound. Justin’s journey led him to Juniata Park Academy, where he was introduced to the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts. Justin’s aspirations extend beyond performance. Among his notable achievements, he has used his music to advocate for causes close to his heart, performing at events for FAMM and the Philadelphia African American Museum. He has collaborated with esteemed venues and institutions, including the Kimmel Center, the Harlem Ballet Dance Company, and Berklee College of Music. Currently in his second year at Temple University, Justin remains steadfast in his mission to share his gift and love for music with the world.
Security Rules: Each person attending the event must have a ticket registered in their name and a government-issued ID that matches the name on the reservation in order to enter the Embassy. No one will be admitted without a reservation and proper ID. Due to strict security measures, please arrive on time, as doors will be closed at 7:30pm sharp. Please allow for extra time for the security screening.
