Educational Intern – Education Department

Cultural Services of the Embassy of France in the U.S. (Washington DC, On-site, Part-time, 3 to 5 months negotiable)
The Education Department of the Villa Albertine (IFEU-VA) within the Embassy of France in Washington D.C. seeks an Intern to assist our team with the promotion and management of our programs.
The Education Department includes an Education attaché and five program managers (for bilingual education, for language assistant programs, for future teachers, for French as a foreign language, and for higher education).
Reporting to the Education attaché, the trainee will contribute to the following missions:
- Educational Cooperation: support the team’s with the organization of the 1st French For All Summer Institute; contribute to the creation of a French Language Advocacy initiative; improvements and management of a new WordPress website for Teachers of and/or in French.
- Bilingual Education: organization of a 4-day training seminar for teachers of bilingual programs; coordination of the network and production of communication tools (newsletters, social networks); management of the French Dual Language Fund with the bilingual education program manager (calls for applications, selection of applications, administrative tasks).
- Higher Education and Future Teachers: support Higher Education and Future Teachers programs (selection of applications, administrative management, and communication campaign).
- French as a World Language: support FWLP programs (selection of applications, administrative management, and communication campaign).
I. Eligibility
This position is open to a student enrolled full-time in an American university. Please note that we cannot accept candidates who have already graduated from university, high school students, or students who require a visa to work in the United States.
Please note that we cannot offer financial compensation.
II. Qualifications
- For undergraduates – must be a Senior to be eligible to apply. All graduate students are eligible to apply.
- Major in French Studies, Educational Affairs, Political Science, Communication, or Project Management.
- Excellent English writing skills and French language proficiency (B2 or above on the CEFR scale is a plus).
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- IT skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), familiarity with Canva and WordPress are a plus.
- Interest in educational affairs, French culture, and/or project management.
III. Availability
- 15 hours per week minimum (please mention working days, and hours between 10 AM to 6 PM)
- 3 to 5 months (negotiable)
- Starting date: March 1st, 2025
- Must be willing to come on site with the team
- Internship is based at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., 4101 Reservoir Road NW 20007.
