NEW YORK, December 18, 2017—As of January 2018, CinéSchool, will offer access to a selection of French films with related lesson plans designed for teachers to guide classes in cinema appreciation. The teaching materials, including pre and post–screening activities, conceived for students ages 4 to 18 and organized by age group (4-6, 7-12, 13-15 and 16-18), will be available online and free to download in French, English and Spanish across the U.S. Theprogram is co-produced bythe Cultural Services of the French Embassy, the Alliances Françaisesnetwork, and the Institutfrançais, Paris.
The CineSchool film collection is drawn from Festinema Junior, a French film festival for kids created by the Alliances Françaisesnetwork with the support of the French Embassy in the U.S and InstitutFrançais, Paris. The program seeks to make foreign language films more accessible to children of all backgrounds and offers lesson plans designed to guide classes in structured film analysis.
On the occasion of the launch of CineSchool, P.S. 110 The Monitor School in New York City, will organize a screeningof Ernest and Celestine, 2013, directed by Benjamin Renner, Vincent Patar, StéphaneAubier (César Award for Best Animated Film) on Jan.13 at 2PM and a screening of Tales of the Night, 2014, directed by Michel Ocelot on Feb. 10at 2PM. Organizers can choose to screen any film in their school, film theater or cinematheque.
