Applications for TAPIF To Teacher are now open for 2025/2026 Teaching Assistant in France. On this page, you will find all the relevant information about the program and its two tracks: TAPIF To French Teacher and TAPIF To Dual Language.
What is the TAPIF To Teacher program?
Part of the French For All initiative, the TAPIF To Teacher program offers a unique opportunity to accelerate your journey to becoming a qualified educator. Applications for this program are now open until September 25 (find the application link below).
Once accepted, classes are scheduled to run from January 20th to April 25th.
These specialized courses, conducted online and entirely in French, are estimated to take 106 hours. Designed to align perfectly with your TAPIF term, the training is primarily asynchronous, offering flexibility while you gain valuable classroom experience.
What is the TAPIF To French Teacher track?
TAPIF To French Teachers offers full scholarships towards an online graduate certificate called a Diplôme d’Université (D.U.) in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (Didactique du FLE).
The certificate program is offered by the University of Paris Nanterre and France Education International.
For this track, our current U.S. university partners are: Boston University, Concordia College, University of Missouri, and Middle State Tennessee University, so that students can transfer up to 12 credits towards MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching), M.Ed. (Master of Education), and MSLT (Master of Second Language Teaching) programs.
What do classes entail?
Students will have to utilize two digital platforms. Two courses will be completed under the University of Paris Nanterre’s platform and one course will be completed through France Education International’s platform. Completing modules on both platforms are required to successfully complete this program.
University of Paris Nanterre courses:
- Course 1: Teaching Methodology (24 hours asynchronous)
- Course 2: FLE (Français Langue Étrangère/Seconde) Assessment (24 hours asynchronous)
France Education International (FEI) course:
- Course 1: Integrating digital tools into classroom practices (15 hours synchronous)
- Course 2: Designing and delivering a distance and/or hybrid course (15 hours synchronous)
- Course 3: Integrating video clips into your teaching practices (15 hours asynchronous)
In addition, tutored and evaluative activities will be provided for this course (around 13 hours).
What is the TAPIF To Dual Language track?
TAPIF To Dual Language offers full scholarships towards an online graduate certificate called a Diplôme d’Université (D.U.) in Teaching Subjects in Foreign Languages (Enseignement d’une discipline par l’intégration d’une langue étrangère).
The certificate program is offered by the Bordeaux Montaigne University and France Education International.
Starting in 2025, this new track is meant for students who are interested in teaching a subject such as history, math, or science, in a foreign language. For this track, our current U.S. university partners are: Teachers College Columbia University, Utah State University, and University of Rhode Island, so that students can transfer up to 12 credits towards an M.A. in Bilingual Dual Language Immersion, an M.A. in Bilingual Education, or a MSLT (Master of Second Language Teaching) programs.
What do classes entail?
Students will utilize one digital platform. Three modules will be completed with University of Bordeaux Montaigne and an additional three modules will be completed with FEI.
University of Bordeaux Montaigne courses:
- Course 1: Module 1 – 15 hours (part 1) + 15 hours (part 2) From principles to classroom activity development
- Course 2: Module 2 – 15 hours Analysis of Subject Discourse and CLIL Teaching Methods
France Education International (FEI) course:
- Course 1: Adopting CEFR Principles in Teaching (15 hours synchronous)
- Course 2: Structuring and Facilitating Learning in CLIL (15 hours synchronous)
- Course 3: Promoting cross-cultural awareness and reflection (15 hours synchronous)
In addition, tutored activities, independent work, and work assessment, will be provided for this course (around 16 hours).
Eligibility and Application
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- TAPIF participants in 2025/2026
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree
- Must have a B1/B2 French proficiency level
Should you be accepted into the program, you will have to pay €150 of registration fee to University of Paris Nanterre or Bordeaux Montaigne University in December/January.
