French Teaching Fast Track
Launched in response to the shortage of teachers of French in the United States, this program helps those with a strong mastery of French become teachers of French with fewer obstacles than the traditional track to obtain a teaching license might present. Participants of the program must possess authorization to work in the US.
While French Teaching Fast Track is not a teaching certification in and of itself, completing the program facilitates and expedites candidates’ acceptance to an accredited teaching license program.
Those enrolled in the program initially complete over 70 hours of online training and an introductory course in French teaching, which can translate to up to three credits at the accredited teaching institution where they ultimately earn their teaching license.
After completing the initial training hours, participants create a Personalized Learning Plan, which outlines the last steps required to obtain a license. Participants are also connected with the AATF to help them finish their certification and connect with appropriate state and district administrators.
Throughout the French Teaching Fast Track process, participants benefit from support from the French Embassy and local organizations in charge of providing them with detailed and curated information on accreditation pathways available to participants in their own state.

TAPIF To Teacher
Are you passionate about French language and considering teaching?
The TAPIF To Teacher programs provide TAPIF participants with an accelerated path to a career in teaching French through France Education International (FEI) and our French University partners: Université de Paris Nanterre and Université Bordeaux Montaigne.
In addition to the immersive hands-on experience TAPIF provides, the TAPIF To Teacher programs facilitate the transition from being a Teaching Assistant in France to being a Teacher in the United States. Participants will benefit from approximately 100 hours of online and mostly asynchronous training in French and obtain a French Diplôme d’Université (D.U.) during their term.
The programs are offered in partnership with U.S. universities to transfer up to 12 credits towards MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching), M.Ed. (Master of Education), or MSLT (Master of Second Language Teaching) programs. With the credits you earn from this diploma, you will be able to reduce both the time and cost of obtaining a master’s degree at a later date. Furthermore, the Diplôme d’Université (D.U.) will help attest your competencies in teaching and French language.
In order to qualify, candidates must be current TAPIF teaching assistants (U.S. citizens or green card holders, Bachelor’s Degree, etc.).
There are two TAPIF To Teachers programs that students can choose from:
- TAPIF To French Teachers: Classes started in 2023 with Université Paris Nanterre. This program is meant for students interested in Teaching French as a World Language (Didactique du FLE). For this program our partners include, as of now, Boston University, Concordia University, Middle State Tennessee University, and Florida State University.
- TAPIF To Dual Language Teachers: Classes will start in 2026 and application in 2025 with Université Bordeaux Montaigne. This program is meant for students who are interested in teaching a subject such as history, math, or science, in a World Language (Enseignement d’une discipline par intégration d’une langue étrangère). For this program our partners will be announced in June 2026.
Please note that these programs are not dual degrees.
