Event Highlights at Our Centers of Excellence

Discover exciting events at our Centers of the Excellence hosted by major research universities throughout the United States.

By hosting seminars, lectures, roundtables, festivals, and debates on France and the Francophone World, the Centers contribute to the development of French and Francophone studies on American campuses, and beyond that, to all forms of scholarship related to the language, culture, history, and politics of Francophone countries.

Princeton University

From March 20 – April 23, 2026, the annual Princeton French Film Festival returned for its fourth edition with a series of film screenings accompanied by Q&As, lunch talks, workshops, and special events around the 2nd Princeton FrancoFest (April 11). Presented by Princeton Film Festival Society, with the support of the Graduate School, Albertine Cinémathèque, the Center of Excellence and many other academic and community units.

Ohio State University

The Jules Verne Writing Residency at Ohio State selects writers for a two-week to one-month residency in Columbus, during which they will work on a literary project while contributing to classes at Ohio State University and giving lectures to the Ohio State and Columbus communities.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The MIT & French Library Author Series, a hybrid literary conversation format, brings together contemporary French and French-speaking writers with MIT students and Boston’s Francophile community. On April 25, the series hosted  author Marie NDiaye for a conversation entitled, “Mothers, Daughters, and the Supernatural.”

University of California Los Angeles

Join the UCLA Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies (ELTS) for an exclusive evening with Annick Cojean, a world-renowned senior reporter for Le Monde. In dialogue with Professor Lia Brozgal, Cojean will explore her distinguished career in journalism and the innovative adaptation of her investigative reporting into new artistic forms—including graphic novels and theater.
