Come and enjoy a film series honoring France’s Official Oscar Submission for Best International Feature Film this year, The Taste of Things, from January 10 to 12.

The American Cinematheque presents ‘The Taste of Cinema,’ a series celebrating some of the most delectable culinary experiences ever committed to celluloid.

Starting off with a historical romance double screening, THE TASTE OF THINGS, starring Juliette Binoche as a 19th century cook and her gourmet employer, Benoît Magimel, gives us a peek into cooking as an act of love while THE SCENT OF GREEN PAPAYA, Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, examines the deep connection between sense and memory.

An ode to the art form, BABETTE’S FEAST, Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film, reflects on cuisine’s temporary nature as a meal is shared in a remote Danish village during wartime. And for dessert, CHOCOLAT, also starring Juliette Binoche as a captivating but flighty chocolatier, earned five Oscar nominations, including one for Juliette Binoche as Best Actress in a Leading Role, weighs societal concerns over sinful indulgence against its power to inspire connection.
