This month join us on Monday, March 25th as film industry expert Aude Hesbert hosts a discussion about Saint Omer by Alice Diop with Kayije Kagame, Guslagie Malanda, Aurélia Petit, Valérie Dréville, Xavier Maly, Robert Cantarella

Saint-Omer court of law. 30-year-old novelist Rama attends the trial of Laurence Coly, a young woman who stands accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter after abandoning her to the rising tide on a beach in northern France. Rama is planning to fashion a contemporary retelling of the myth of Medea from the case. But as the trial continues, nothing goes as she had expected, and the 4 months pregnant author will have to question the truth of her own experience of maternity.

This event will be on Zoom and is free and open to the public. The event will be in English with some French vocabulary. Please make sure to watch the film before the discussion. A list of streaming channels that offer it can be found here.

Discussions in English will take place on the fourth Monday of each month so please mark your calendars and check back here soon for details on April’s discussion!

French Cinémathèque is presented by The Federation of AF USA‘s One Film One Federation program in collaboration with Telescope Film.
