In April, French Cinémathèque, a monthly curated discussion series about French movies, discusses Justine Triet’s Academy Award-winning courtroom drama, Anatomy of a Fall.

On Monday, April 22, join film industry expert Aude Hesbert as she hosts a discussion about Anatomy of a Fall, directed by Justine Triet; co-written with Arthur Harari; and starring Sandra Hüller, Swann Arlaud, Milo Machado-Graner, Antoine Reinartz, and Samuel Theis.

Winner of Best Original Screenplay at the 2024 Academy Awards!

Sandra, a German writer, lives with her husband Samuel and their visually impaired son Daniel in a remote mountain chalet in the French Alps. When Samuel falls to his death under mysterious circumstances, the investigation cannot determine whether it’s suicide or foul play. Sandra is ultimately arrested for murder and the trial puts their tumultuous relationship and her ambiguous personality under the microscope. As her young son takes to the stand, doubt starts creeping in between them.

This event will be on Zoom and is free and open to the public. The event will be in English with some French vocabulary. Please make sure to watch the film before the discussion. A list of streaming channels that offer the film can be found here.

Mark your calendars and check back here soon for details on May’s French Cinémathèque discussion as talks in English will take place on the fourth Monday of each month.
