On May 18, the ninth edition of the annual ELAC International Animation Day Festival, dedicated to French animation, returns, featuring a video tribute to Bridging the Borders Award winner Marjane Satrapi.

Opening remarks and a reception will precede the screening of French animated shorts:

Empty Places by director Geoffroy de Crécy
Mild Madness Lasting Lunacy by Marine Laclotte
Genius Loci by Adrien Merigeau
Logorama by François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy, and Ludovic Houplain
The Monk and the Fish by Michaël Dudok de Wit
The Night of the Plastic Bags by Gabriel Harel
The Little Dragon by Bruno Collet

A post-screening panel discussion and Q&A will be followed by a spotlight on French-American animation artist Patrick Mate, who will discuss his work on animated films, such as Prince of Egypt.

The day’s festivities will conclude with a Tribute to a Legend – Marjane Satrapi, recipient of this year’s Bridging the Borders Award for an international artist.

The goal of the ELAC International Animation Festival is to give an in-depth and entertaining introduction to contemporary international animation. Screenings of short, animated films from around the world, analyses, and Q&As with a panel of well-known animation experts, and a tribute to an international animation artist working in the U.S. animation industry are all part of the festival program.
