Villa Albertine’s beloved free outdoor French film festival, Films on the Green, arrives in Boston on July 23.

Join Villa Albertine and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston for an unforgettable cinematic evening, featuring Thomas Cailley’s sci-fi adventure, The Animal Kingdom, starring the irresistible Romain Durris, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Kircher. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a relaxing evening outdoors while immersing yourself in the best of French cinema!

This visionary thriller draws viewers into a world where genetic mutations transform people into hybrid creatures.  As some of the creatures disappear into a nearby forest, François sets out to save his wife, who is affected by the mysterious condition, with his 16-year-old-son Émile and the help of a local police officer. Thomas Cailley’s marvelous film is a modern ecological fable touching upon societal, economic, and personal themes.

The Animal Kingdom had its world premiere on opening night of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and was later nominated for 12 César Awards, including Best Film and Best Actor, taking home five, including Best Cinematography.

Screening in French with English subtitles. Film begins at sunset.
